Brian Shaw

Adversity causes some men to break; others to break records.

Brian is a 4-times World’s Strongest Man winner, 11-times consecutive World’s Strongest Man finalist (the most ever), 3-times Arnold Classic champion, holds multiple world records and is a star of the new History Channel show ‘The Strongest Man in History’. In addition, Brian is a successful business owner, content creator, husband and father.

Shaw was born in Fort Lupton, Colorado, in 1982, the son of Jay and Bonnie Shaw. Both of his parents were taller than average, with his father standing at 6 ft 1 in (1.85 m) and his mother 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m). Shaw is the middle child with an older brother and a younger sister.

At Fort Lupton High School, Shaw excelled in basketball. He then attended Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado. Shaw was one of the team leaders for the Rattlers in his sophomore season. Following Otero, he went to Black Hills State University where he was on a full basketball scholarship and received a degree in wellness management.

Post college, Shaw fell even more in love with the concept of strength than the game of basketball itself. Entering his first Strongman contest in 2005, a complete novice to the sport but a substantial background in strength, Shaw placed first. He quickly turned “pro” in 2006 and rapidly climbed the ranks. Shaw’s first appearance in World’s Strongest Man was 2008, made his first final in 2009 and has every consecutive year since.

Shaw still resides in Colorado with his wife Keri and their two boys, Braxton and Kellen. He continues to actively compete internationally in the sport of Strongman, owns multiple successful businesses and currently has one of the fastest growing YouTube channels (ShawStrength) in the strength arena.
